Sting寫歌，最神奇的一點，就是可以把對社會議題的關照，與感情這個主軸配合地完美無缺。他不隱瞞、不假裝沒看到世界的醜惡，卻仍在他歌詞裡找得到一線希望；再醜惡、再令人沒信心的世界，也都有一絲明亮...

如同「If I Ever Lose My Faith in You」歌詞中寫的，
"I never saw no miracle of science that didn't go from a blessing to a curse."
"I never saw no military solution that didn't always end up as something
worse."
這些類似的事情，讓人對政治、所謂的「進步」、以及世俗的價值觀，都很難有"faith"了。但是，
"let me say this first: If I ever lose my faith in you, there'd be nothing left for me to do."


現在的我對於現實，還是有許多不滿，就連雷根去世的消息，都很難引起我的哀傷，反而想到我是多麼反對他與柴契爾夫人的經濟政策。

They all seemed like game show hosts to me"

對，他們對我來說都像白痴節目的主持人。台灣有泛綠泛藍，美國有泛藍泛紅，但是泛到最後也都變成同一種顏色，胡搞瞎搞的顏色。

即使我們堅持自己的看法，也許仍永遠無法改變這個世界。宗教、政治、商業...也許全都是一場騙局，每個人都在哄騙作戲，還有人會用黃底白字的封面告訴你「作秀是個好習慣！」。鉅頭利用媒體、金錢、曝光機會、政商資源與人脈，聚集自己的信眾，踩著別人的頭頂，濫用特權、出賣弱勢、污染環境、無所不用其極，就為了完成其自私的心願，而大家還崇拜這些鉅頭的刻苦努力，一點都不覺得被利用、被壓榨、被犧牲。甚至人們還對那些冷血的鉅頭心存感激，感謝他們為世界帶來了「進步」。

不過，即使如此…

我心裡還是有自己的信仰，知道哪些才是最重要的，在現代社會穿梭妥協的時候，它們會永遠支撐著我。其他狗屁倒灶的事情，無法讓我不快樂。有時把那些鬧劇拿來罵一罵、笑一笑，甚至還有一番樂趣。例如小布希，絕對是個開心果呢！

這樣就夠了。
